Recently I had the honor of being nominated by “Lotus Flower” (@LotusFl63450259 on 🐦) at My Fitness Journey with Fibro for the Sunshine Blogger Award.
She and I both strive to stay above water and shine despite our bipolar disorder diagnoses. She also battles
fibromyalgia and I deal with chronic inflammation attributed to the bipolar. Still, we look for the silver lining in the clouds.
The Sunshine Blogger Award is to recognize bloggers who are positive, creative, and inspiring. It is also a way to bring recognition to so many talented and dedicated bloggers. It’s a great way to show your appreciation for the talent of others, and to get involved in the community.
There are a few rules to the award and nominations which are shown below.
Thank the blogger who nominated you in your blog post and link back to his/her blog.
Answer 11 questions that the blogger asked you.
Nominate 11 new bloggers to receive the award and write 11 questions for them to answer.
List the rules and display the Sunshine Blogger Award logo in your post on your blog.
As a nominee, here are my answers to her 11 select questions.
What is your ultimate dream in life?
My ultimate dream would be to live in a more empathetic, compassionate world with better, competent health care as we are nothing without our health.
How do you stay as positive as possible?
I used to wince at the word “positivity,” but it’s really just about semantics, and I do feel semantics are important. I try to stay as strong as possible, realistic but brave. I think it’s self-care to be aware of my limitations, to look after myself and put my mind, body, and soul first so that I can then share some of that with others.
If you could have one superpower, what would it be?
I always wished I had Terminator vision, that I could detect who people really were with just a scan. Now I’m learning to listen more closely to my Intuition and to stop ignoring it in favor of old, toxic patterns.
What brings you the most joy daily?
Honestly, my cats, first and foremost. They’re all the family I have right now that I don’t seem to burden. They don’t hold grudges against me and I don’t have to worry about putting them in therapy later because I kept telling them to leave me alone on bad days. But also, in all honesty, my growing supportive community of advocates like you.
What would you like to achieve with your blog?
Advocacy, inspiration, hope, vulnerability, validation, and support. Everything I’d want afforded myself.
What have been your greatest moments of this year?
This year has been a most emotionally tumultuous one since being re-diagnosed from unipolar depression to bipolar type 2. I have continued to swim hard and not drown through the continued med changes. I am resilient, as we all are with chronic illnesses. And that is the most badass thing you can be.
What would your top 3 travel destinations be if you could go anywhere, and why?
I haven’t thought this out too thoroughly as international travel seems like a pipe dream financially, but I think I would most like to go through Spain, France, and Switzerland by train. I have a deep affinity for their art, culture, and social climate.
What is one song that you really connect deeply with?
“Just the Way You Are” by Billy Joel
If you wrote an autobiography, what would it be called?
If I’m Not Back in a Couple Days, Just Wait Longer
What would the picture on the front of your autobiography be?
Some kind of painting.
Do you know how truly wonderful you are?
Yes, but no one has told me lately so thank you, dear one.
